29 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) troops serving the 681 Brigade area under the 68 Division of the Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) recently repaired the roof of the Murugan Kovil in the Mullivaikkal West under the supervision of the 681 Brigade Commander.
Having found that the sacred Kovil area remained full of garbage and the Kovil’s roof was not in order, 29 SLNG troops in close coordination with the civilians in the area thatched the roof with new tin sheets and cleaned up the entire premises, enabling the devotees to continue with their offerings in a better milieu, free from garbage.
The project as one more attempt to revive good relations between civilians and military personnel proved a success.
