Members of the Maha Sangha, now returned to the ancestral sacred site at Nayaru, Mullaittivu on account of the forthcoming ‘Vas’ (rainy retreat) were invited to remain in the place in keeping with age-old Buddhist traditions during a brief ceremony on Saturday (12), ‘Esala’ Full Moon Poya Day.
Ven Seruwila Saranatissa Nayake Thero, Incumbent Seruwila Raja Maha Vihara, together with two other monks, accepted the invitation to be at that temple during the rainy retreat, following the invitation, extended by Major General Senaka Wickramaratne, General Officer Commanding, 59 Division.
Earlier, this historic place of Buddhist worship, remained abandoned for more than 40 years was cleaned up on the instructions of Major General Jagath Dias, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Mullaittivu.
