Indian Air Force Chief Calls on Army Commander

Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha PVSM AVSM VM ADC, Chief of the Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, presently in Sri Lanka on a five-day long goodwill visit, called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Daya Ratnayake at the Army Headquarters Wednesday (16) afternoon.
 
Major General R. Ratnasingham, Colonel Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Service Corps (SLASC) and Quarter Master General at Army Headquarters received the visiting Indian Air Force Chief.
 
A Guard Turnout plus a Guard of Honour, commanded by Captain M.P Siriwardena, Parade Commander and presented by SLASC troops, saluted the visiting Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha on arrival at the MoD ground, next to the northern gate at the Army Headquarters before he was conducted to the Commander’s Secretariat.
 
At the entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat, he was warmly received by his Sri Lankan Army counterpart and introduced to his Principal Staff Officers who in turn greeted the visiting Indian Chief of the Air Staff.
 
Talks that followed at the Commander’s office largely centered on bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest to both organizations. Two more officers of the Indian Air Force were also associated with the brief meeting.
 
The visiting Indian Air Chief left his signature in the VIP book afterwards as the Commander of the Army looked on. An exchange of mementos, signifying the importance of their interaction, took place later on before the visiting Air Force Commander of India took leave of the Commander.
 
During his stay in Sri Lanka, Air Chief Marshal Raha is scheduled to call on President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development, Vice Admiral Jayantha Perera, Commander of the Navy and visit several places of tourist interest before his departure on Saturday (19).
