Mr D. M Dharmasena, Principal at Kuliyapitiya Technical College, in a letter of appreciation, addressed to Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa, Secretary Defence and Urban Development, has profusely thanked the Sri Lanka Army for renovation of the college playground in response to a request made soon after the ' Deyata Kirula-2014' mega development exhibition at Kuliyapitya was over.
"Sri Lanka Army, responding to our appeal offered their technical know-how and machinery to our disposal and did an exemplary job by renovating and restoring this large playground of immense value to both Kuliyapitiya and Puttlam Education zones. State events, public and private events, sports meets, fund-raising shows, charity projects and varying public gatherings do take place in this ground on a regular basis and re-development and renovation work done by the Army raised the quality of the place, befitting students aspiring to be experts in sports," it added.
Sri Lanka Army which uses a public or a school property for service purposes is generally in the habit of showing its gratitude and helping the concerned positively whenever the Army's assistance is sought, to be in line with the Commander's vision, put up their "Deyata Kirula-2014" exhibits inside this playground several months ago.
"I am very pleased to inform you that repairs carried out by the Army are of high professional standards and such renovation work is a stimulus being provided to all sports-loving youngsters, yet to be born and using this place for training sessions. Let me place on record our deep sense of gratitude and salute to the praiseworthy work, well done by the Army," the letter copied also to the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development further added.
