The final segment of the week-long 18th anniversary ceremonies of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) culminated with an overnight Pirith chanting ceremony on Thursday (26).
With the participation of 65 Buddhist monks, headed by most Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkhitha Mahanayake Thero of Asgiriya Chapter, the chanting started after the relics and the monks were conducted to the octagon in a colourful procession (perahera). The event invoked blessings on fallen and serving War Heroes, Commander of the Army and the organization at large.
The ceremony organized by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, SFHQ-J saw the offer of Heeldana (breakfast) to the members of the Maha Sangha, the following morning.
