East-Based Troops Continue Their Community Projects

Troops serving 18 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment of 231 Brigade of 23 Division under Security Forces Headquarters - East (SFHQ - E) recently distributed lunch packets among inmates at the Elders’ Home at Kalawanchikudi.

Meanwhile, 224 Brigade on 25 February organized a musical programme at Venaur School in Sampoor. A Blood donation camp on the following day by the same troops in Muttur Hospital, came in for praise of the public.

On the same day, 222 Brigade conducted an awareness programme on “Child Abuse”, at Peramaduwa School. The programme was organized with the intention of educating the villagers on prevention from abuses.    
 
Under the directions of Major General Lal Perera, Commander, SFHQ-E, 24 Division Headquarters meanwhile organized a 2 day seminar for Non Commissioned Officers (NCO) to improve their skills on administration and discipline during February 26 - 27 at Combat Training School (CTS), Ampara.

The disable woman Ms. Chandra Menike from Muthuwella, Welikanda received a wheelchair from the Army on 26 February during a simple ceremony, held at Welikanda Hospital premises.

Meanwhile, East-based troops organized a series of religious activities in connection with the ‘Maha Shiva Rathri’ Day.

On 27 February, troops serving 231 and 222 Brigades conducted special poojas with the participation of villagers to mark the ‘Maha Shiva Rathri’ in Siththandi Vinayagar Kovil in Manmunai, Pulleyar Kovil and on 01 March another pooja in Murugan Kovil.

Troops of 12 Sri Lanka National Guard (SLNG) meanwhile offered lunch for inmates at Ganesha Elders’ Home at Vinayagapuran, Thirukkovil.

On the same day, 3 SLNG troops distributed lunch packets among children of Thilahawadiyar Children’s Home in Kadiraweli.
