Jaffna Public Laud Maj Gen Hathurusinghe's Tenure as Commander


A gathering of the public in Jaffna lauded the services of the outgoing Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) during a special farewell ceremony, organized at Vasavilan on Saturday (4).

The gathering comprised of priests, senior citizens and ordinary civilians presented tokens of mementos to the parting Security Force Commander who tirelessly worked to raise living standards of the Jaffna people for well over four years.

Major General Hathurusinghe about to take up the appointment as Adjutant General at Army Headquarters during his address to the gathering urged peace-loving Jaffna people to never help separatist elements or divisive politics since everybody can live in a peaceful country as one nation, irrespective ethnic differences.

Recalling the memories he shared with people of all walks in Jaffna, the parting Security Force Commander, extended his best wishes to the people of Jaffna with their future projects and told the gathering that he was impressed with the ongoing development roles in the peninsula.

In his appreciative talk, one Mr Dharmakulasingham, a retired foreign service official, thanking the outgoing military officer for his cordial friendship, cooperation, goodwill and interest shown towards Jaffna people, spoke high of Major General Hathurusinghe’s continued rapport he promoted between the masses and the military by launching and establishing various coordination and humanitarian projects.
