The life-size statue of ‘Hasalaka’ War Hero, Corporal Gamini Kularathne of 6th Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) who sacrificed his own life to rescue hundreds of fellow soldiers in the Elephant Pass camp, was unveiled at a ceremony, headed by Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters – Kilinochchi (SFHQ - KLN) and Mrs. Y. G. Juliet, the mother of Corporal Gamini Kularathne on Tuesday (02).
The statue has been erected at the same place where the War Hero sacrificed his life. It was constructed by troops of the 66 Division under the SFHQ – KLN within 04 months.
Corporal Gamini’s mother in tears expressed her gratitude to the Army for the project. Senior Officers and a large gathering of civilians attended the occasion.
