1769 More Sinha War Heroes Awarded 'Rana Sura Padakkama'

Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR), one of the most prestigious infantry units of the Army which has an illustrious history of 57 years, awarded one more segment of Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) gallantry medals to 1769 SLSR War Heroes during a glittering ceremony at SLSR Regimental Headquarters at Ambepussa on Saturday (14).

Spouses and family members of 275 fallen War Heroes, 177 officers and 1592 other rankers of the SLSR accepted those honorary accolades from Major General Boniface Perera, Colonel of the Regiment, SLSR in the ceremony.

At the same occasion, a total of 55 children of War Hero families, including the son of the fallen War Hero, Captain S.C.U. Liyanage received separate cash gifts from the Chief Guest on the occasion, Major General Boniface Perera.

Those SLSR War Heroes under their ‘Brave and Speedy’ motto selflessly contributed to the successful completion of the Wanni Humanitarian Operations, which eliminated terrorism from Sri Lanka’s soil.

A large gathering of senior officers, retired senior officers, parents and invitees witnessed the event.
