A group of undergraduates from the University of Davidson, US, now in Sri Lanka on a familiarization tour, met Major General Udaya Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters, Kilinochchi (SFHQ- KLN) on Saturday (9) in order to learn more about the Army’s roles towards re-development of the province.
Major General Perera on whose invitation the tour had been organized presented them with a briefing and answered queries raised by the visiting undergraduates during the meeting.
One of the visitors remarked that they were surprised to see the civil life, development of infrastructure, regional development and various other ongoing projects in the area and did not see any remnants of a war in the recent past.
During their visit to the Kilinochchi Harmony Centre, this group interacted with some school children and exchanged views with the help of interpreters.
