54 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) on Friday (25) educated the troops on the importance of preventing damages of wild elephants with the assistance of a team of Wildlife Department officials on Friday (25).
The awareness programme and the special demonstration on threats of wild elephants use of fire-crackers to drive them away and minimization of damages to human lives, etc were taken up for discussion during the meeting at 54 Division Headquarters in Wanni.
The programme was conducted by the Deputy Director of Wild Life, Vavuniya. More than 1800 soldiers received knowledge through the programme.
