A Bajaj three-wheeler, a motorbike and a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh are among awards that were to be distributed among winners of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation, initiated ‘Three-wheel Star’ programmes under the thematic ‘Jaffna Ran Handa’ music programme.
A recent attempt to select 100 competitors for the first round of the singing competition took place recently before a gathering of artistes and other invitees. The finale of the singing stars with ten finalists is to take place shortly at Colombo SLBC Kumaratunge Munidasa Auditorium. Competitors from both civil sector and Army camps in the Jaffna areas took part in the preliminary round.
Major General Lal Perera, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - East (SFHQ-E), Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), Mr Hudson Samarasinghe, Chairman, SLBC and several senior officers attended the inaugural occasion at Chavakachcheriya Cultural Centre on Thursday (12).
A board of judges comprising veteran musicians selected the best ten for the finals.
