Troops of 25 Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) and 9 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) serving 611 Brigade of 61 Division under the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) recently offered a scholarship and a wheelchair to two youngsters in Kalmadu Unity 2 village and Ammevethyankulam area.
Ms Madavan Lingeshwaran who has been selected to read for her degree at Eastern University was offered a scholarship worth Rs 12,000/= considering her financial constraints by the Army patronage. Similarly, the disable youth, Mr Selvarasa Nahendran of Ammevethyankulam was donated a wheelchair following patronage received from the Army for the worthy cause.
General Officer Commanding, 61 Division gave away both these gestures of goodwill to the recipients on Saturday (14). 611 Brigade Commander, Grama Seva officials and several Army officers were present.
