Relief gift packages, containing dry rations, clothes, school accessories and suchlike, sponsored by a Singapore-based Sri Lankan philanthropist, were distributed among low-income group families in Kudairippu area, Nagarkovil South, Jaffna on Saturday (10).
At the request of the 55 Division General Officer Commanding, Singapore-based Mr Nilakshan Perera and his close associates, volunteered to donate these gift packets to 29 families and more than 25 children in the area during a brief ceremony at Senumunitha pre-school.
Recipients selected on the recommendations of the Grama Seva official included several widows and parentless children from the area.
Brigadier B.H.M.A Wijesinghe, General Officer Commanding, 55 Division, senior officers, Grama Niladari officials and recipients were present at the occasion.
