Over 90 school students, including those who lost their parents in the brutal Kebithigollewa bus bomb attack, resident in Yakawewa area were awarded scholarships for studies, organized by the Army with the support of civil donors during a recent ceremony in the area.
Tiger terrorists on 15 July 2006 detonated a powerful claymore mine and killed more than 90 bus passengers in Kebithigollewa area while the bus was plying. The brutal crime deprived more than 40 students of their both parents or a single parent, making their lives miserable. Cash donations given for these children were deposited in separate accounts, enabling them to buy their educational needs.
62 Division General Officer Commanding, 621 Brigade Commander and donors for the project witnessed the distribution.
