4 SLLI Admin Complex &;amp; Water Scheme Opened

The new administrative complex and the water scheme of the troops serving 4 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), established at Mulliyaweli, Mullaittivu was opened on Sunday (14) during a simple ceremony, headed by Major General R.M.D. Ratnayake, Colonel of the Regiment, SLLI and Chief of Staff.

Amidst Seth Pirith chanting of the Maha Sangha, the Chief Guest, Major General R.M.D. Ratnayake opened a plaque and warmed the new premises after cutting a ribbon and observing other traditional rites and rituals at the entrance.     

The entire project cost Rs 8.5 million and SLLI troops provided labour for construction of the administrative building and the water tank tower.  

The Chief Guest who had commanded the 4 Battalion SLLI, the second most senior SLLI Battalion in the Regiment, some years ago posed for a group photo with the troops before he opened the new water scheme, built by the troops themselves after digging out a well in the arid area.

After ceremonial openings, Major General Ratnayake made a brief speech to the troops enlightening them on their national duties and importance of discipline. Major General L.B.R. Mark, Security Force Commander - Mullaittivu was also present at the occasion.

After a symbolic tree planting, the day’s ceremony ended.
