Army Admin Staff Enlightened on Documentation

To coincide with the Army’s ongoing re-structuring programme after absence of about 30 years, measures are afoot to improve the quality of proper management of documentation in the organization, as directed by Directorate of Personnel Administration and Adjutant General Branch of the Army.

A recent full-day workshop, organized by Department of National Archives at its auditorium enlightened a team of about 250 officers and senior non-commissioned officers of the Army on principles, associated with documentation, maintenance of documents, need for archiving of most wanted documents, long-term preservation of office documents to match with international standards, etc, leaving room for interactive question-answer sessions.

Dr. Saroja Wettasinghe, Directress, Department of National Archives headed the workshop with the assistance of her staff members.

The workshop focused on disposal of unwanted documents, use of creative documents, conduct of an economically-sound administrative structure, reproductive and efficient system of documentation, etc, considering the mammoth volume of documentation, taking place in the Army on a daily basis.

Due to the 30 year long war, the Army could not pay proper attention to its ever-swelling load of documents, reaching from every corner of the island.

Representative participants from Regimental Centres, different units and headquarters took part in the workshop.
