SLLI Troops Act Fast &;amp; Buy Chairs for Pre-School Kids

7 Battalion Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) troops pocketed out their own money and volunteered to get down 20 pre-school chairs on the spot while a sports meet of the Anandanagar Kaleimagal pre-school in Ambalkulam, Kilinochchi, was underway on Thursday (20).

It all began when the Chief Guest for the sports-meet Lieutenant Colonel H.V Anil Somaweera, Commanding Officer, 7 SLLI, observed that those pre-school kids due to lack of adequate chairs in the pre-school were sharing the chairs with one another or sitting on the ground while they were watching their sports-meet. Inquiries, made at the same occasion disclosed that the pre-school does not have enough chairs for those attending kids.

However, before the conclusion of the day’s event, Lieutenant Colonel Somaweera, acted fast and made arrangements to immediately buy required chairs from the Kilinochchi market and hand them over to the kids and teachers attending the sports-meet.

Authorities in the pre-school on their own have invited 7 SLLI Commanding Officer in the area to be the Chief Guest for inauguration of their sports-meet.

Clergy, parents, teachers and other invitees at the occasion gave a thundering applause and appreciated the Army’s timely generosity as the Commanding Officer symbolically delivered those new chairs to the pre-school authorities.
