Katubedda Electrical and Mechanical Base Workshop of the Army won public commendation for the creative Vesak lantern that was on display at Battaramulla Diyawanna Vesak Zone in the recent past.
Troops serving the workshop crafted the renunciation of Prince Siddhartha on the horse, Kanthaka as recorded in the life-story of Buddha using technical and mechanical know-how, generally practised in their workshop.
Impressed with the exhibit, a Vesak sightseer by the name, Mr A.G.S Ambagaspitiya of Warapalana, Gampaha has interpreted his thoughts to poetic language and expressed gratitude to all those engineers who had produced the Vesak lantern to function in such a sophisticated manner.
