Vavuniya Vesak Decorators Receive Cash Prizes

Vavuniya Bodhi Dakshinarama Viharaya adorned festive Vesak garbs when Army formations and schools in the area produced a large collection of colourful Vesak lanterns and other decorations, adding colour to the Vavuniya town on account of Vesak.

Groups of Vesak Bakthi Gee (devotional songs) presentations meanwhile made by both Army formations and schools were given cash gifts with sponsorships, provided by Sri Lanka Insurance, Vavuniya Bank of Ceylon, People’s Bank, National Savings Bank, Vavuniya Seylan Bank, Senkadagala Finance Company, The Finance Company, Vavuniya Pradeshiya Development Bank and Vavuniya Traders’ Association.

Ven. Siyambalagaswewa Vimalasara Thero, Chief Sanganayake for Northern and Eastern Province, Major General Boniface Perera, Security Force Commander - Wanni, District Secretary for Vavuniya and senior officers representing various formations were present when cash prizes were awarded to the winners in the Vesak lantern competition and Bakthi Gee presentations.
