Pakistan's NDU Team Calls on Commander of the Army


A 19-member military delegation of Pakistan’s National Defence University (NDU), currently in Sri Lanka, as part of their study cum familiarization tour in SAARC countries, called on the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at Army  Headquarters Tuesday (8) morning.

The meeting with the Commander was followed by a presentation conducted by Director Operations (SL Army) at the Army Headquarters Conference Hall. The visiting delegation, headed by Commodore Asif Saleem Chaudhary, was keen on learning more about the successful conduct of Humanitarian Operations and post-conflict development roles. Pakistan delegation, at the conclusion of the presentation by Director Operations, also shared their experience in anti–terrorists war fare with the Sri Lanka Army officials.
     
Towards the end of this interaction, the head of the delegation, as a gesture of goodwill, symbolically placed his signature on the visitors’ book kept at Commander’s Office.

Prior to the meeting into the Commander of the Army, they called on the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development, the Chief of Defence Staff, Commanders of the Navy and Air Force. The delegation is also expected to call on Commander Eastern Naval Area, Commander 22 Division and a few other senior officers during these stay in Sri Lanka.  

The delegation, comprised of military and civil officer trainees from Pakistan, USA, China and UAE also met the Governor of the Central Bank, Foreign Ministry Officials and several other administrators in the public sector.
