Troops Take Water to Drought-hit Civilians

Troops of 9 (V) Sri Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI) under 621 Brigade came forward to assist drought-stricken civilians in Kalyanipura-2 and Gajabapura-9 in Welioya Divisional Secretariat, Mullaittivu District by supplying drinking water for more than a week.

Later on, the same troops with the coordination of 621 Brigade Commander and its Headquarters took steps to dig a deep well in order to get drinking water for resettled people in Gajabapura. Troops constructed a protective wall around the well considering extensive use of the place for collecting drinking water.

All those relief projects were conducted during the last week of September, this year since the drought has affected hundreds of resettled and ordinary civilians in these villages.

Civilians profusely thanked the Army for their supply of water bowsers and thoughtfulness.
