7 VIR Troops Take Gifts &;amp; Essentials to Parentless Children


Promoting civil-military relations further, 52 Division troops carried a large stock of essentials to the parentless children in Kaithady Government’s Probationary Home for Children in the Jaffna peninsula on Friday (21).

Over 30 kids and children, almost everybody without either a parent or both parents or any relatives are living in this government-run children’s probationary house.

Alerted to the orphanage’s requirement for many essentials such as mosquito nets, mats, thermo flasks, baby soap, powder, toothpaste, milk powder, cups, toys, etc, troops of 7 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) with the support of outside donors, collected those items, valued at more than Rs 75,000 /= and took them to the children’s home.

Ms Vasuni Subhakaran, Matron, Kaithady Children’s Home in the presence of Mr Vishwa Ruban, Commissioner, Department of Child Probation and Care accepted the donation from Brigadier W.A.V Sudasinghe, General Officer Commanding, 52 Division. Several senior officers including Lieutenant Colonel W.M.N.K.D Bandara, Commanding Officers 7 VIR, Colonel P.D.K.B Rathnayaka, Colonel L.B.D.H.S Lakshman and several others participated in the event.
