Troops serving 56 Division under Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) commemorated the 15th anniversary of their Division conducting a full-day blood donation campaign at its Headquarters.
Members of the Army as well as Special Task Force of the Police, numbering over 150, gave away blood during the arrangement, attended by two doctors and ten nurses of the Anuradhapura Provincial Blood Centre. Blood thus collected is to be used for surgeries at Anuradhapura Hospitals.
On the day of the anniversary (1 October), a Pirith chanting ceremony plus an alms giving on the following day (2 October) mark the event. Another Hindu Pooja held at the Division Headquarters premises marked the culmination of anniversary programmes.
A musical entertainment that ran into late night entertained civilians as well as Army personnel serving the area.
Most Ven Udugama Sri Buddharakkitha Maha Nayake of Asgiriya Chapter, Major General M.H.S.B Perera, Commander Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni, District Secretary for Vavuniya, Senior Police Officers and a large gathering of civilians contributed to the commemorative events.
