Army Women’s Cricket Team, Shakthi Ladies Cricket Team, Nittambuwa Ladies Team and Sri Lanka Air Force Team became qualified to play for the semi-finals in the ongoing Murali Harmony Cup in the Jaffna peninsula.
On Wednesday (12) Army Women’s Cricket Team beating Shakthi Ladies Cricket Team won the Murali Harmony Cup by 28 runs in Oddusudan.
The Murali Harmony Cup tournament is being now played at 5 grounds across northern Sri Lanka between Sept 8 - 12. Twelve boys’ teams and eight ladies’ teams, comprised of school children (under 19) and cricketers (under 23) from both northern and southern cricket teams are taking part in the matches in Wanni, Kilinochchi, Mullaittivu and Jaffna grounds.
Meanwhile, the matches, organized by the Security Forces Headquarters - Wanni (SFHQ-W) under the same, Murali Harmony Cup T20 tournament, kicked off on Saturday (8) at Vavuniya Tamil Maha Vidyala grounds.
Sri Lanka Air Force women’s cricket team and Nittambuwa Ladies cricket team were qualified to participate in the semi-finals during the inaugural day.
Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W, 211 Brigade Commander and a large gathering of civilians attended the inauguration of the tournament.
