In parallel with the ongoing ‘T-20 Murali Cup’ cricket tournament in both Kilinochchi and Mullaittivu districts, the ‘Murali Harmony Cup - 2012’ in the Jaffna peninsula, kicked off on the same day (Sept 8) at Jaffna St Patrick’s College grounds after a brief ceremony.
Organized by the ‘Muttaiah Muralidharan Foundation’, the tournament comprises school teams from the North and the South.
Combined teams from Jaffna schools, Vavuniya-Mannar school teams, South- based Kandy Trinity College team and Thissamaharama Debarawewa team are to show their colours under the C group in a spirit of goodwill and harmony.
National cricketers like Lasith Malinga, Anjelo Mathews, Nuwan Kulasekara and Dinesh Chandimal graced the inaugural ceremony on Saturday (8).
Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J), the overall coordinator of the event facilitated the tournament and provided the maximum support.
