A representative delegation of the African National Congress Progressive Business Forum (ANCPBF) as part of their itinerary in Sri Lanka visited Jaffna and met a selected group of Jaffna’s civil administrative officials and authorities in the Security Forces.
Deputy Minister Ms Hlenglwe Buhle Mkize and her ANCPBF team first met the District Secretary for Jaffna Mr. S. Arumainayakam and visited a few important places in Jaffna, including the Nallur Kandaswamy temple, Atchuvely industrial park and Navatkuli Palmyrah Research Centre.
Later on, they arrived at the Security Forces Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J) at Palaly where the delegation received a briefing on the security situation and Army’s role in post-war Jaffna.
Brigadier Sumith Atapattu, Brigadier General Staff SFHQ-J during the brief meeting explained them the Army’s contribution to Jaffna’s development programmes, launched by the government.
They also learnt about various welfare roles, being launched on behalf of Ex-LTTE combatants and low-income group families in Jaffna.
