Visiting UK Delegation Impressed with Jaffna Livelihood Programmes

 

As part of their itinerary, a visiting 10 member parliamentary delegation from the UK Parliament recently paid a visit to the Security Forces Headquarters-Jaffna (SFHQ-J) and received and update on current security concerns and community roles, being effected by the SFHQ-J.

Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, SFHQ-J during the meeting briefed the delegation, comprised of Mr James Wharton, Mr Mark Menzies, Mr Andrew Stephenson, Mr Alden Burley, Mr Connor Burs, Mr Mathew Offord, Mr David Morris, Mr Bob Blackman, Mr Iran Paisley and Mrs Nicola Blackman on post-war Jaffna development and Army initiated community programmes.

Livelihood projects, launched by the Army for reintegrated ex-combatants as well as other poverty alleviating projects came in for appreciation of the visiting delegation during the meeting.
