Designed to promote aesthetic and artistic skills among Madu Education Zone teachers through ‘Drama, Mimics and Stage Acting’, 54 Division Headquarters recently organized a week-long workshop, led by renowned actress Ms Anoja Weerasinghe and her 13 member team at “Abhina” Drama Academy.
Eight male teachers and 32 lady teachers in Mannar district participated in the workshop at the request of Mannar Education authorities following coordination done by the Army. It was held at Mannar Joseph Vass Vidyalaya from July 25-Aug 1, 2012 under the auspices of the veteran actress. Mrs Weerasinghe and the team were facilitated by the Army during the whole week.
Brigadier M. A. M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division as the Chief Guest attended the inaugural ceremony of the workshop and the closing ceremony, followed by award of special gifts and certificates to the beneficiaries, took place on August (1 ) during a brief ceremony.
Mr A. J Cruz, Director of Education for Madu Zone, 541 Brigade Commander, 54 Division Civil Affairs Officer, Directress of Music for Madu Zone, Commanding Officer 21 (v) Gemunu Watch and several other invitees were associated with inaugural and closing ceremonies.
