1000 selected students in the Vavuniya education sector under the Kebithigollewa zone received sleeping accessories and mattresses, worth about Rs 4000/= one share as gifts, thanks to the patronage extended by the Kelaniya Rotary Club and a group of Canadian donors.
Distribution of these gift slots took place at Poonewa Navodya Vidyalaya and Ethakada Maha Vidyalaya during two days. Each distribution slot contained a mattress, pillows, pillow cases, cover sheets, etc.
The donation ceremony, organized by the 211 Brigade Headquarters, commanded by Colonel J.A.T.D.M Jayasooriya, 211 Civil Affairs Officer, Lieutenant Colonel T.M.J.B Tennakoon and a couple of other senior officers under the directions of the Security Forces Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W), was also attended by a few Kelaniya Rotary Club representatives and Canadian donors.
A large gathering of children, parents, teachers and principals witnessed the donation of those sleeping accessories.
