Resettled civilians living in remote Avarantalawa and Paleruwa in the 211 Brigade Headquarters area received dry ration parcels, each worth about Rs 2000/= due to donations extended by Kelaniya Rotary Club and a group of Canadian philanthropists.
Distribution of those 250 gift parcels took place at Awaranthalawa Chethiyagiri Raja Maha Viharaya, following co-ordination done by the 211 Brigade.
The occasion was attended by Colonel J.A.T.D.M. Jayasuriya, Commander, 211 Brigade and several other senior officers.
The project cost the donors about Rs 5 lakhs.
