The second phase of the Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) initiated ‘Yoghurt’ production project got underway at the 3 Sri Lanka Army Service Corps Headquarters at Tisawewa, Anuradhapura on Thursday (21).
Production of ‘Yoghurt’ as a dessert that can be supplied to soldiers serving the Army commenced a few months ago as a pilot project at Panagoda Army Cantonment on a directive given by Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya to the SVAB which had shown interest in such welfare projects.
Inaugural ceremony of the second phase of the project that can supply more than 5000 cups a day to the soldiers serving Anuradhapura area as a substitute to the dessert began with the participation of Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President, SVAB, together with several other senior members like Mrs Rani Jayatillake, Mrs Himali Weerasinghe and a few others.
Senior Army officers, SVAB members and soldiers attended the occasion.
