Fulfilling a much-needed requirement of drinking water for troops serving the 23 Infantry Division in Poonany, steps were taken to drill and install a new tube well, worth over Rs 7 lakhs in the Headquarters premises.
Brigadier L. Mahinda Mudalige, General Officer Commanding during a simple ceremony recently commissioned the new tube well which pumps more than 100 litres per minute.
The quantity of water can also be shared with fellow-troops serving other nearby camps, it was said.
