Students Excelled in Grade 5 Scholarship Exams Rewarded


Jaffna peninsula-based Grade 5 students, excelled in the recent scholarship examination were awarded special gifts during a recent ceremony, organized by the 11 Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops at their Headquarters in Chavakachcheri.

The ceremony, planned on the instructions of Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe, Commander, Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna saw 100 students who excelled in the examination and qualified to enter national schools receive parcels of books, worth about Rs 1000/= as symbolic recognition of their educational skills during this special ceremony.

Those recipients shared happier moments and pleasantries with the 522 Brigade Commander, Brigadier Athula Silva and 11 VIR Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Kemarathne who attended as Chief Guest and other soldiers who were present on the occasion.

Members of clergy of Hindu and Christian faith, parents, teachers and a large gathering of students attended the occasion.
