Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, now in Haiti after his visit to one of the Company Headquarters of Sri Lankan Battalions (SRIBAT) in Petit Goave, took a keen interest in learning more about food products, being supplied to SRIBAT troops serving Haiti.
The visiting Commander inspected stores and cool rooms where frozen foods are kept and made inquiries into their quality and points of origin. Lieutenant General Jayasuriya with the SRIBAT Company Commander at hand wanted to find out whether foods of Sri Lankan origin could be made available to the Sri Lankan troops at least once a week.
Brigadier Nirmal Dharmaratne, Director Operations, Army Headquarters was also associated with the inspection tour.
