Friday (12) evening’s ‘Tharu Dilena Reyak’, the year’s dazzling musical extravaganza, meant to raise funds for the Seva Vanitha Army Branch’s (SVAB) ‘Brave Hearts’ for construction of Wellness Resorts (Abhimansala), reverberated the packed Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium with sound of rich melodious hits and fabulous dancing performances.
India’s legendary pop idol, Ms Asha Bhosle, in the company of Sri Lanka’s vivacious duo, Bhathiya and Santhush, accompanied by a galaxy of other singing and dancing stars of high esteem, thrilled the packed audience with multi-coloured spectacles for several hours, presenting their multi-talented scintillating performances which were choreographed by veteran, Channa Wijewardena and the troupe.
First Lady Mrs Shiranthi Rajapaksa graced the occasion as Chief Guest in the company of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at the invitation of the SVAB, presided by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya.

Proceeds from Friday’s musical show are to be channeled for construction of the second ‘Abhimansala’ (Wellness Resort) in the North Western Province as the second leg of the ‘Brave Hearts’ project.
The SVAB, spearheading the ‘Brave Hearts’ project is actively engaged in the construction of Wellness Resorts (Abhimansala) to house some three hundred dependent permanently disable War Heroes for the rest of their lives after injuries received in the recent battle for peace. The first of such centre was ceremonially opened on 26 July at Anuradhapura by His Excellency, the President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the invitation of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya.
