Kegalle Students Leave Memories of Brotherhood with Mathagal Students

Students of St. Joseph’s College, Mathagal recently had a memorable day with their counterparts of Swarnajayanthi Maha Vidyalaya, Kegalle who were in Mathagal on a two day goodwill visit.

Having identified needs of their friends studying at Mathagal St. Joseph’s College, boys and girls of Kegalle Swarnajayanthi, guided by their teachers, donated a stock of school items and sports ware to St. Joseph’s College and its students. A special function was held in this regard at school main hall on Monday (11).

Teachers and students from Kegalle received a warm welcome on their arrival at St. Joseph’s College. An attractive cultural show conducted jointly by students of both schools with performances specific to their areas added colour to the event.

During an informal session that followed, students had friendly chats, sang and danced together showing no differences whatsoever whether they are from the North or South.

The visit was organized by the 515 Brigade of Security Forces Headquarters Jaffna (SFHQ-J) with the intention of creating opportunities for the younger generation of the North and the South to mingle with each other and to understand and respect each other’s cultures and feelings.

General Officer Commanding 51 Division graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Brigade Commander, Senior officers of SFHQ (J) and representatives from Education Department of Jaffna and Kegalle were present.
