Troops in the 54 Division, Mannar organized a series of Sri Sambuddhathva Jayanthi Vesak celebrations on the instructions of Brigadier M.A.M Dias, General Officer Commanding, 54 Division.
More than 150 children in two Mannar based Children’s Homes were treated to lunch by the troops to mark this holy occasion. Similarly, a special Bodhi Pooja held on 17 May invoked blessings on the troops and civilians in the area.
Meanwhile, troops crafted multi-coloured Vesak lanterns and displayed in front of their 54 Division Headquarters.
In the meantime, 563 Brigade Headquarters under 56 Division conducted a free eatery (Dansela) of herbal drinks, rice and peas near Omanthai. In addition a separate display of lanterns was conducted to pick the best out of them. Arrangements organized on the instructions of Brigadier N.A.P.C Napagoda, 56 Division Commander were attended by Major General A.K.S Perera, Commander Security Forces Headquarters, Wanni and Mrs Perera.
