The group of racketeers who have their roots in the East has been pursuing out this clandestine operation, pretending to be members of the security forces, with the objective of seek asylum in foreign countries as refugees and also in order to extend the Refugee status of the majority of Tamil Diaspora.
In the latest incident, it was revealed that this group is engaged in prepare and issuing bogus letters to Tamils seeking asylum or in need of getting their foreign visas extended. The group has given such a letter to a brother of a wealthy businessman in Jaffna who is presently residing in Germany and trying to get his visa extended through his brother. Although the deal was agreed upon for a ransom of Rs. 500,000/=, he had paid only Rs. 30,000/= to the culprits who had come all the way from Trincomalee in a van (250-5489) to abduct the businessman if he fails to pay the balance.
Earlier on many occasions, some such organized groups were trying to show the world that abductions and extortions were still taking place in Jaffna and it still remains unsafe for ordinary people with the sheer motive of getting or renewing their foreign visas.
With the security situation in the country returning to its normalcy, in the aftermath of the humanitarian operations, most of the countries continue to repudiate the refugee status for the Tamil Diaspora who is enjoying their lives in various parts of the developed world under the cover of the fake refugee status.
