Injured War Hero Receives Keys to His New Abode

The Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB), engaged in the noble task of either constructing new houses or partly built ones for War Heroes, completed one more project at Kiriwewa, Sevanagala on Wednesday (23) and symbolically handed it over to the War Hero, 2nd Lieutenant D. R. A. S. Pathmasiri of Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR).

The SVAB President, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya, the livewire behind the mentoring housing programme, in the company of Mrs Rani Jayathilaka, chairperson, SLSR Seva Vanitha Unit, acknowledged the generous contribution the SVAB received towards the construction from the well-known donor, Mr Mayura Wasantha and his close friends who had been of enormous strength to the SVAB in the past few years.

Soldiers of the Corps of Engineer Services together with Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment carried out the construction work of this new house, ceremonially handed over to the War Hero.

The War Hero, 2nd Lieutenant D. R. A. S. Pathmasiri sustained injuries during Wanni humanitarian operations while liberating Kilinochchi from ruthless terrorists.

The Chief Guest, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya for the house-warming ceremony was received by the house recipient on arrival and ushered the invitees to the new house. Thereafter, the special plaque that speaks of the opening was unveiled by Mrs. Jayasuriya to mark the ceremonial house warming. Members of the Maha Sangha blessed the occasion chanting Seth Pirith as the keys of the new house were being presented to the recipient.

The War Hero was joined by his wife who attended to the traditional rituals associated with the house warming. They jointly boiled a pot of milk and shared some sweetmeats with the invitees as their eyes were beginning to glitter in glee.

Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya afterwards offered some gifts to the couple as a token of appreciation. She also spared her time sharing views with the attendees on different welfare matters and other issues.
On the same occasion, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya presented a special memento to Mr. Mayura Wasantha, the donor of funds to the project, as a token of appreciation of the continuous support, being extended to the SVAB by him, together with his close associates for the welfare of the War Heroes.

Mr. Mayura Wasantha and his friends, senior SVAB members, SLSR Centre Commandant and several Army officers were present at the ceremony.
