Buddhist laity, attached to the Chicago Buddhist Vihara in Illinois, USA, through Mr Hiran Udawatte’s coordination, recently made a donation of medical equipment to the Sri Lanka Army Medical Services.
A representative gathering of the US based temple as well as from Chicagoland area took part in the brief ceremony that saw wheelchairs, walking aids, bath chairs, crutches, potty seats, portable commodes with side support, a mobile X-ray unit, a temperature controlled bath for physiotherapy and a few more miscellaneous items were gifted to the Army.
Those donors, apart from collecting these medical items, paid for the consignment’s shipping passage and collectively helped to load the container before it was taken to the port.
