Indian Air Force Chief Calls on Commander

Chief of Air Staff of the Indian Air Force, Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik who is visiting Sri Lanka, Tuesday (18) morning called on the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya at Army Headquarters.

At the entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat at Army Headquarters, he was warmly received and requested to inspect the Guard Turnout, in accordance with military traditions.

A special Guard of Honour, accorded by troops of the Sri Lanka Armoured Corps then saluted the visiting Indian Air Force Chief who inspected the parade. Seconds after that, the Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya warmly received the Indian Air Force Chief at the entrance to the Commander’s Secretariat where the Indian military chief was introduced to principal staff officers in the Sri Lanka Army.

During a friendly meeting between the visiting Air Force Chief and the Commander of the Army, both military chiefs exchanged views on matters of military concern and possible promotion of different training assignments.

Towards the end of the meeting, Lieutenant General Jayasuriya presented the visiting Air Force Chief with a special memento and a replica of a sword as tokens of memory and goodwill. The visiting Air Force Chief reciprocated the gesture and initialed in the VIP book at the Commander’s Office before his departure. 

The visiting Air Chief Marshal P.V. Naik during his stay in Sri Lanka, was expected to meet defence chiefs in Sri Lanka.
