Sampath Bank spread its wings further and established its newest branch at Kilinochchi with a view to providing a helping hand to district’s development and financial assistance to the public.
The opening took place on 30 July 2010 amidst a gathering of senior bankers, including Deputy Governor Central Bank, Mr. Dharma Dheerasinghe, Dr Ranee Jayamaha, Advisor to the President on Banking, Chairman, Sampath Bank Mr. Arthur Senanayake, Sampath Bank Board of Directors, Commander, Security Forces Kilinochchi, Major General Chandana Rajaguru, Senior Police Officers and a host of administrative officials in the district.
The opening ceremony commenced after raising the National flag and the Sampath Bank flag by visiting bank officials amidst Hindu blessings and traditions before they lit the traditional oil lamp and inaugurated the new office complex. First transactions were made between Tamil businessmen and the bank staffers.
At the end of the day’s inaugural ceremony, visiting bank officials made a trip down to the Security Forces Headquarters, Kilinochchi and had a sight-seeing tour around the famous Iranamadu tank.
Sampath Bank is to assist the Security Forces to establish a public library in the area for the use of both civilians and members of the Armed Forces and the Police.
