The newly-appointed District Secretary for Jaffna Ms. Imelda Suhumar paid a courtesy call on Commander Security Forces-Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe recently at his office at Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna (SFHQ-J).
This senior state official with a record 26 years of service was received warmly by Commander SFHQ-J. She had a formal discussion with the Jaffna Commander on urgent matters of concern and close coordination between administrative work and the military authorities as far as Jaffna development work was concerned.
During the discussion, the new District Administrator expressed her appreciation on the Army’s valuable contribution, hitherto made towards the reawakening of Jaffna. She also recalled the support she received from Major General M. Hathurusinghe when he served as Commander Security Forces-Kilinochchi.
Assuring her support to rectify and correct several existing irregularities in the administrative machinery in Jaffna, Ms. Suhumar sought the same degree of support from the Security Forces in the performance of her future duties as Head of the Civil Administration in Jaffna. Both of them also agreed to make the Jaffna administrative wing more effective and less troublesome to the public.
Ms. Suhumar was the District Secretary for Mullaitivu until she assumed the office of District Secretary for Jaffna on Tuesday (13). She succeeds Mr. K. Ganesh who retired as the senior most District Secretary after 32 years of long service to the Sri Lanka Administrative Service.
