A SENIOR TEAM of Seva Vanitha Army Branch (SVAB) members, headed by Mrs Manjulika Jayasuriya, President SVAB on Monday (5) paid a visit to the Rana Viru Sevana at Ragama with the intention of inquiring into their welfare, needs and shortcomings, if any.
Mrs. Jayasuriya and the team spent a couple of hours with those War Heroes under rehabilitation following injuries they sustained, offered SVAB assistance to resolve any pending issues.
Learning the requirement of an additional state bus for their transport, Mrs Jayasuriya responded positively and agreed to look into the matter as soon as possible. She also gave consent to building a new wing for the Rana Viru Sevana with SVAB funds.
In response to a request for assistance made by the inmate, 2/Lieutenant V.W.L.S Wanigasinghe of Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) for completion of his wash room, needed to be equipped with special accessories, the visiting SVAB team also made a donation of Rs 25,000/= to the officer on the spot. This VIR officer had sacrificed his both eyes and one arm while fighting LTTE terrorists on 20th November 2008 at Kilaly forward defence line. Mrs Jayasuriya made the donation on behalf of the SVAB.
