THE ARMY TRAINING SCHOOL (ATS) at Maduruoya with a view to promoting Handball game among students in remote areas such as Polonnaruwa, Ampara and Batticaloa districts recently organized a two-day training workshop at ATS Maduruoya.
The workshop, organized on the instructions of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya was attended by over 100 students, sports teachers, instructors, Army trainers and Army players. Brigadier W.B.D.P. Fernando, Commandant ATC who is also the Chairman, Army Handball Association and Secretary General, Handball Federation of Sri Lanka inaugurated the training sessions. Mr Hemasiri Fernando, President National Olyphics Committee and several provincial Ministers and councillors graced the occasion.
The move, the first of its kind in ATC history continued for two days.
