Ten Gold medals, nine Silver medals and seven Bronze medals were won by Army Tae Kwondo players, in addition to the overall Championship (senior section) clinched by them during the two-day Korean Trophy Tae Kwondo Tournament, held at Maharagama National Youth Council auditorium.
The tournament, sponsored by International Agency for Korean Aid and Korean Embassy was competed by players in Sri Lanka Army, Police, Special Task Force and many island-wide players in different sports associations. Over 300 contestants took part in the tournament.
Presentation of merit awards and certificates was done by Minister of Sports C.B Ratnayake and Korean ambassador Dr Choi Ki Chal. Secretary to Ministry of Sports S Liyanagama also participated in the award ceremony.
At the end of the prize-giving ceremony, the executive committee of the Army Tae Kwondo Association, chaired by Brigadier B.C.J.A.F Rodrigo posed for a group photo with the association’s Secretary, physical training instructor and trainers in both male and female categories.
