Commander Extends his New Year Greetings

COMMANDER OF THE ARMY Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, addressing a section of Officers, Non Commissioned Officers, Other Ranks and civil staff at the Army Headquarters extended his New Year wishes to all ranks of the Sri Lanka Army and their families in connection with the Sinhalese and Hindu New year.

The Army Chief, during his address Thursday morning (15), paid his sincere gratitude to Officers and Other Ranks who are away from their loved ones during the festival season and those still under treatment for injuries after fighting against the terrorists for the noble cause of safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity of the motherland. He further extended his wishes to family members of the soldiers serving in the North and East.
 
Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya told the gathering that Sri Lanka Army is held in high esteem and respect by our Nation as contemporary War Heroes. “We receive laurels as one of the best Armies in the world due to gallantry and heroism”…… (See his full speech http://www.army.lk/detailed.php?NewsId=2057).
 
Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya subsequent to his address visited the Military Hospital to meet injured officers and soldiers receiving treatment. Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya, president Seva Vanitha Army Branch, also joined the Commander during his hospital visit and distributed gift parcels among the inmates.
