THE 18th annual Foxhill Super Cross races, one of the biggest sports events in Sri Lanka concluded last evening on a grand scale with the participation of the surprise visit of His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa & the First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa.
The event graced by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya as the Chief Guest began as scheduled after raising the National Flag and observance of a two-minute silence in memory of fallen War Heroes.
Minutes after the inauguration, His Excellency the President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the First Lady giving a sense of surprise to the spectators entered the main pavilion and sat with the Chief Guest and other invitees to witness the Super Cross.
His Excellency, the President and the First Lady were welcomed by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Mrs. Manjulika Jayasuriya and Brigadier Ruwan Kulathunge, Commandant, Sri Lanka Military Academy on arrival at the venue.
The Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) this time too provided their fullest support to the Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA), Diyatalawa as earlier to ensure the successful conduct of the motor races.
The total profit of the Foxhill Motor Cross will go to uplift the standards of Sri Lanka Military Academy (SLMA) Diyatalawa, the premier military training centre in Sri Lanka Army for Military officers.
Organizers of this mammoth event maintained that His Excellency the President’s presence while dignifying the event added moral boost to the competitors and honour to Sri Lanka Military Academy, Diyathalawa.
