WITH a view to assessing the status quo regarding improvements in the educational sector and also rectifying any shortcomings, a combined civil-military team of senior policy makers recently visited three major schools in the Jaffna peninsula.
Jaffna Mayor Ms Yogeshwari Pathgunaraja, Zone Director of Education Ms A. Vedanayagam. Commander, Security Forces, Jaffna Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe during this tour met principals, teachers and a section of students at Kankasanthurai Hindu College, Jaffna-Chundikulam Girls School and Jaffna St. John’s College where the visiting team received feedbacks from school authorities and students.
During the discussions, Major General Hathurusinghe inquired into any remaining requirements that could be addressed by the Army. Major General Hathurusinghe during the interaction reminded them of the nature of work that has already been completed by the Security Forces Headquarters, Jaffna. Principals expressed their gratitude for the visit and requested their continued cooperation for all school projects in the future too.
Brigadier General Staff Colonel B.C.J.A.F Rodrigo was also associated with the tour.
